5.0 out of 5 stars Best Sound, Hands Down...but not right for everyone!, March 26, 2011

This review is from: Beatbox by Dr. Dre 30-Pin iPod/iPhone Speaker Dock (OLD MODEL) (Electronics)
I spent many weeks researching high-end iPod speakers, including Monster/Beats, Bose, Kicker, B&W, Chestnut Hill, Polk, Audyssey, Cambridge Soundworks, Boston Acoustics, Sonos, and Altec Lansing. When I started the process, I had a simple goal: find the best sounding iPhone/iPod speaker available, with the best quality, for the lowest price possible. I had been warned that many of the more expensive systems justify the extra cost by adding a bunch of rarely-used features (video out, alarm clocks, HD radio, instrument jacks, internet radio, etc.) instead of better speaker quality. Sure enough, when I started looking at the different models, I was quickly overwhelmed by a bunch of features that had absolutely nothing to do with how good the thing actually sounds. So I spent some time asking a few friends, vendors, and online forums about all of these new capabilities. In the end, I learned that sound quality is (by far) the most important buying criteria, and other than that, there... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly the Best!, March 22, 2011

The most important thing to me is very high audio quality. Sure, there will always be better, but having listened to just about every compact speaker dock, this one sits on a whole different level. (Though so does the price!)

There were three units in my consideration, the Kicker IK501, the Bose SoundDock 10, and the Monster Beats by Dre Beatbox.

The Dre unit (which I'll just call "Beatbox") sits midway price wise, yet is clearly the winner in almost all categories.

I listen to a wide variety of classical, rock, rap, singer-songwriter, R&B, etc and have tried all genres on these units. The Beatbox can reach incredibly loud sound levels while maintaining absolute perfect clarity and musical reproduction. I find the music is very accurately reproduced and comes through as the artists intended it to. The highs are incredible, so clean and crisp they can actually give you chills. The mid range is full and vibrant, filling the room. The bass...and I... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ipod dock for the money, January 7, 2011

This ipod dock is definately worth the $400 I paid. This speaker system sounds awesome especially if you enjoy bass in your music. I also considered buying the Bose Sounddock 10, but I actually preferred the sound on the Dre beatbox. You can also connect other devices such as a dvd player and it also charges your ipod.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good- but not on par with the Bose Sounddock 10, January 19, 2012

This review is from: Soundfreaq Sound Stack Speaker Dock for iPhone, iPod, iPad, and Other Bluetooth Devices, (Black) (Electronics)
I purchased this item and I want to be clear that I am very pleased with it. It is a very good purchase for the price point, and the controls and sound quality are great, with a free iphone app that really is useful. So I have no problem giving it five stars. The reason that I am writing a review is that many people considering this purchase are also considering the Bose Sounddock 10. The Bose is 250 dollars more, and then you would need a bluetooth module that is 99 dollars, so we are now comparing a product that costs 350 to one that costs 700. Obviously, the Soundfreaq is going to lose and it does. I own two Sounddock 10s and they blow this unit out of the water, as they should at twice the price. In a moderate sized office or bedroom, the Bose can deliver a low end presence that the Soundfreaq simply cannot. For some people, the price is not the issue. They want a small bluetooth unit that delivers excellent sound. For that group of people I would have to recommend the Bose... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars One more great invention, December 18, 2011
This review is from: Soundfreaq Sound Stack Speaker Dock for iPhone, iPod, iPad, and Other Bluetooth Devices, (Black) (Electronics)
So last year, I bought the original Sound Freaq for my parents for Xmas and I saw how much they enjoyed it that the wife and I bought the brand new version (Sound Stack) and I can totally see why my parents loved it. It took literally 2 minutes from the time we opened the box to be playing music wirelessly from our iPad or iPhone. Great audio quality and it's just awesome someone as computer/tech illiterate as me to get this going so fast. So in short, we're big fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal sound, November 30, 2011

This review is from: Soundfreaq Sound Stack Speaker Dock for iPhone, iPod, iPad, and Other Bluetooth Devices, (Black) (Electronics)
Purchased this for my very sensitive mother who hates the speakers on most modern devices like iPad. Oh and she lives abroad so needs a 220v compatible power source. This one managed to meet both needs. I tested a variety of music: classical from baroque on up, acoustic, pop, and even hip hop. I felt like I was playing in an orchestra again with the classical stuff and any singing voice sounded like maybe the singer could be alive inside the speaker. Truly a marvel and from such a compact machine to boot. Bluetooth pairing is simple and the instructions are clear. Feels expensive and controls are well laid out. I am sorry to ship this off to my mom!

NuForce S3-BT White APT-X Bluetooth Loudspeakers Details

NuForce S3-BT White APT-X Bluetooth Loudspeakers Details

Product Description

Regardless of how the signal is delivered to it, every speaker is still a speaker at its core, so sound quality always dependends on the fundamental principles of speaker design, including the materials used. We kept this in mind when designing the S3-BT, which we built upon a platform of advanced design and superior components. The woofer is constructed using a proprietary "anti-resonance" cone technique and powerful magnet assembly, while the tweeter is a custom soft-dome design known among audiophiles for offering the lowest distortion and smoothest natural response.

In its "standard mode," out-of-the-box form, the S3-BT with apt-X codec offers exceptional Bluetooth performance. Even so, for those hardcore audiophiles who demand the highest level of wireless fidelity, we've made the S3-BT upgradeable by including an additional set of analog inputs in the design. This allows the user to bypass the standard Bluetooth connection in favor of using NuForce's own Air DAC wireless system, or even a wired connection.

The advantage to using the NuForce Air DAC is that it was designed to achieve a level of true 16-bit performance that simply isn't possible with the Bluetooth standard. As good as Bluetooth with apt-X is, the S3-BT mated with the NuForce Air DAC sounds even better.

Whether you choose to use the S3-BT's "standard mode" Bluetooth wireless, or upgrade its sound with the Air DAC system, the S3-BT offers a much needed, audiophile-grade alternative to mediocre wireless sound. Don't settle for less than the best any longer: get the clarity, detail and power all NuForce products are known for, with the NuForce S3-BT.

  • Utilizes the latest AAC and apt-X
  • Bluetooth compression Codecs
  • Elegant design & Compact bookshelf size

These speakers sound great! I read a lot about this product before purchasing and was convinced that these BlueTooth speakers would meet my needs. Fortunately, I was right as these speakers sound great and are very easy to use. I own an iPhone and it is very simple to connect to these speakers and play whatever music I like through different streaming applications. The sound quality is amazing and I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
